I find it frustrating when Westerners assume that every architectural accomplishment from the Roman era was exclusively a "Romans for Romans" feat, as this is far from the truth. North Africa, for example, was allied with Rome for centuries, and many of the cities that feature Roman-style architecture were actually built by local rulers. Take King Juba II of Numidia, for instance, who was instrumental in the construction of such cities. To illustrate the diverse makeup of the Roman Empire, consider that Septimius Severus, one of the Roman emperors mentioned in the video (at 5:07), was actually of Berber origin. This highlights how the Roman Empire was a melting pot of different nations and cultures. Therefore, it’s inaccurate to assume that every city featuring Roman-style architecture was built by Rome exclusively for Romans. This is akin to seeing a skyscraper or a McDonald's in Paris in 2024 and claiming it was built by Americans for Americans. To further elaborate, King Juba II, who reigned from 25 BC to 23 AD, was a Berber king educated in Rome. His reign saw the blending of Roman architectural styles with local traditions, resulting in unique urban landscapes. Similarly, Septimius Severus, who ruled as Emperor from 193 to 211 AD, hailed from Leptis Magna in modern-day Libya, a city that flourished under Roman influence yet retained its distinct North African identity. These examples underscore the cultural and architectural syncretism that characterized the Roman Empire, demonstrating that its accomplishments were often the result of collaboration and cultural exchange across its vast territories.

The "Africa" category is useless and arbitrary, just like "Asia", so I don't see the point of calling Numidan mausoleums the "2nd biggest tombs of Africa". Numidians have as much to do with West African cultures or Bantus as Armenians have with the Chinese.

King Juba II, and his wife Cleopatra Selene, not only lived during the time of Augustus, they were brought up from young ages by the emporer and his sister, Octavia, in Rome. They were both children of conquered rulers, whose parents were, er, killed by Roman invaders! This period is fascinating, and several novels have been written about it, some pretty good, but the best author of fiction set in this period is Margaret George, imo. She wrote The Memoirs of Cleopatra, as well as two great novels about Nero.

It's very unfair to claim that any place was "robbed" before the archeologist arrived. They in-fact will rob a find just as any would, they will keep it within their organization with a conspiracy to profit from the keeping of these antiquities. Make absolutely no mistake, they all take what is not theirs, and they will subsequently profit from you being able to see said item at a later date. The worst part of acquisition by an archeologist is that they are fixed in their understanding of history and objects they don't understand will be hidden away and never to be seen again. This "robbing" us of our physical history and robbing us of the truthful details of our history, this is unacceptable. If they wish to keep these items for all to see then the museums should always be free to enter for all, as well, completely publicly owned. Absolutely no private or Govt. ownership would be rightly considered within the heritage of civilization.
